3 Incentives to Energize Your Team for March

Incentivize Your Team for March

How many of you are familiar with that lethargic drag that inevitably comes around this time of year? Here we are, entering our third month of the year. The holidays are over, that initial “New Year Resolution” period is something of the past, and you are really getting into the grit of the year. The truth is, whether you are an Administrative Professional or an Executive, you can bet that if you are feeling the drag, so is the rest of your office. So what do you do?

One of the best things you can do for your team is incentivize. That means adding a little sparkle to those high priority tasks or projects that need to be completed. March is a great month to inject a little “Umph” into your workplace, because this is when they really need it -as do you!

Here are three great incentives to use for March to get your team back to feeling energetic and appreciated!

Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration

This doesn’t need to be an incentive for any specific goal, this can just be the “Spiked Coffee” they may need to get them up and running once again. For this little shindig, you can organize it during office hours, like an extended lunch, or a pre-dinner at the end of the workday (but before 5pm). This way, attendance is mandatory, and they will be able to reap all the positive morale benefits that come along with enjoying non-work interaction with their team.

Obviously, this party can’t involve alcohol, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! You can go as big and cheesy as you would like, or just keep it simple and yummy. One thing is for sure, you should be encouraging everyone to wear green leading up to the event. Make it something they will look forward to. Grab some delicious Irish treats, hang some rainbows and four-leaf clovers! Maybe even spread some chocolate gold coins around the office and desks. If you’re looking for some ideas, check out this list from Office Depot or Chron!

Give Their Gear an Upgrade

Nothing is worse than sitting in a chair that is getting progressively more tired at the same pace that you are. The same goes for the slow outdated software or the monitors from the early 2000s. One of the seemingly small, yet highly appreciated statements of awareness you can make for your team, is to get them an upgrade. Maybe you noticed that they have been complaining of some back issues, or they had mentioned that they were having some difficulty loading a particular program. Taking notice of the little things sends a big message to your team, so pay attention. When they feel that you are truly looking out for their best interest, it will translate into the positive energy that they need to boost them forward.

Make a Big Deal of Your Big Movers

Nothing says “I noticed the great job you’re doing” more than public praise. Is there an employee that broke records in sales? Maybe someone who received an outrageous amount of positive feedback from clients? Maybe it’s just the shy, quiet one who you know is always on time, stays late, and never complains… Roll out that red carpet! Make it a fun experience for the whole office, but focus on the guest of honor. One really great idea we’ve seen utilized in many successful offices is to take the Boss’ Office for the day! Not only will this make them feel important, but it will also help them to visualize the potential in their future, motivating them onward!

Whatever it is that you decide to do, make it happen. Don’t wait. If you have to schedule a reminder for yourself once a month, put it on your calendar. Nothing helps a team regain motivation like receiving appreciation and praise!
